Celebration of the Arts

The City of San Marcos 12th Annual San Marcos Alive Celebration of the Arts Street Fair will take place outdoors on Sunday, October 4 from 10 am to 4 pm at the San Marcos Civic Center, 1 Civic Center Drive. The City will be spreading the word that art is for everyone with the invitation to shop at vendor booths, view art demonstrations and displays, and participate in over 20 hands-on art projects. Entertainment will include performances by local schools and dance groups on two stages. This year's event will also include a juried art show and a student art show. There is no charge for admission or parking. The San Marcos Civic Center is located within walking distance to the Sprinter station. I just wanted to share a friend of mine's online Diaper Cake Boutique that has just opened for business! Cyndi, the owner, has dedicated the boutique to their friends Craig & Kristy who lost their little baby Kaden Alex Kuehl on April 20th, 2009 after a 17 day battle with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). Cyndi's goal with this boutique is to turn it into a non-profit website and have all the proceeds go towards helping families with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Cyndi & her husband have two adorable twin girls who were born two months pre-mature and spent 11 days in the NICU. Luckily, the girls had no complications and were only there for observation. Some families are not so lucky and have to stay near the hospital and expenses can accrue rapidly.

So if you have a baby shower coming up on your calendar, be sure to check out Diaper's Make the Cake! The Mommy-To-Be will LOVE it...

Karaleigh started dance class when we moved to San Marcos. She met a little girl down the street when they were both getting the ice cream truck one day and since then they have been "best friends". Little girls are so funny! So Karaleigh and Sophie go to dance together now once a week and she absolutely loves it! So isn't it my duty as a mother to find her the cutest little tutu leotard out there!? Where else to look but Etsy? Have I mentioned that I {LOVE} Etsy?

There is a little shop called Whimsy Ranch where you can find handmade, one of a kind leotard tutu's and other unique apparel. Thank you Marie for giving me the opportunity to showcase your creations :)

So first of all, what I love most about these pictures is that we didn't have to take a car to get here. All we had to do was walk out our back fence and Wa-La! We have an amazing photo spot right behind our house! Which means picture time can be just about ANY TIME!! And it's not hard convincing Karaleigh to go on a little adventure. Anything that Dora the explorer does, Karaleigh is up for :)

I have had my eye on this bad boy since it was released, and it finally made it's way into my hands :) What a difference it is from my 20D! It is amazing in low light conditions, it's got Live View, and a 3-inch LCD screen... What more could I ask for!! This means that all of my future clients are in for a real treat! And with 15.1 megapixels, this also means that I can finally get that great big wall canvas I've been dreaming of...

{Max's Miracles}

A few weeks ago I met a little boy, and his amazing family with 7 children. His name is Max, and he was born with a serious heart defect called Tretrology of Fallot. Max is now 5 years old and has had 7 heart surgeries, one diaphragm surgery, his tonsils removed, and too many catheter procedures to mention. His loving parents have had to go through so much pain, from sitting in hospital waiting rooms for hours hoping to hear good news, to sitting by his hospital bedside just trying to help ease the pain their little boy is feeling. Max is a very strong little boy. I've seen him running and playing outside like any little boy would, just days after heart surgery - Now that is amazing! His parents, Steve & Molly Williams, have started a foundation called Max's Miracles. They are opening their hearts and their home to the special children who endure so much in their young lives. They are so graciously transforming their Northern California ranch into a safe and secure retreat... a place for these children to leave it all behind, at least for the day.. to hop on a vintage logging train winding through apple orchards.. to stop at Santa's Village where it's Christmas every day.. to fulfilling their sweet tooth with Molly's cinabuns.. to having old fashion gun fights.. to fairytale makeovers for the little princesses.. to a good old fashioned western bar-b-que to top off the day at Max's Miracle Ranch. So I thought to myself.."how can I help contribute to this wonderful cause?"... Valentines Day is approaching fast, and so I will be offering a Valentines photo greeting cards in which 10 cents of each card purchased will be donated to The Miracle Ranch. Cards will be available mid January.

So what do you get when you have an absolutely georgeous subject and some amazing clothing? You get one rockin' photo session! Nina is one of my favorite subjects to photograph, and when she agreed to model some artful outfits from Petalos by Rosa - I was stoked! Look at this beautiful little girl. She is such a natural in front of the camera - it's great. She seriously knows how to work it! I had a blast taking her around town. Don't ya just love the adorable little outfits? And her golden curlie - Q's?! Stand by for more of Nina in the next day or so :)

One of the best things about having this job is that I get to meet so many new people. It's a funny story how I met Little Miss Mandy. We were sitting at the mall eating lunch, and the woman sitting next to us admired Kali's skirt (which by the way was from the lovely Laura at Ginger Louise Clothing.) And the next thing I knew, I was so graciously invited into her home to take some Christmas photos of her *super sweet* daughter Mandy. Little Miss Mandy really knows how to work the camera. She is such a little ham! And can you believe she is only 2?! Her read hair is a rare blessing! Barbara, I hope I was able to re-capture the photo you took last year with Mandy kissing the reindeer! So to say the least, I've had A LOT going on lately...

With getting ready to move in a few weeks... and the holidays... WHEW! ..but if you know me then you know that I always make time for photo-time! and even with as busy as I've been, I somehow managed to send out out my Christmas cards super early! One less thing on my huge To-Do-List! So it's safe to say that all my family & friends received their cards, and now I can share them here with all of my friends in virtual world :)

So here I share our christmas card and some outakes from our christmas card session in Old Towne Sac. It was pretty chilly so I had to break out some of my old bribes in order to get Little Miss K to cooperate. I think what got her was the $5 she could spend at the candy store :)

Another adorable outfit from an amazing designer. Desiree at Sew Adorable Creations is wonderful. The quality in her clothes is great, and with her fabric choices, you can be sure you're little one won't be dressed like the girl down the street :)
She has a ton of holiday stuff in her shop right now, including the most precious christmas stockings!

And on to the Wonder Horse... My parents took a cross country trip and while stopped at an Antique Store, they found this Vintage Rocking Horse from 1963! My dad spotted the horse and said to my mom "I found the horse for Karaleigh!!". And they couldn't leave the store without it, so my dad borrowed some tools from the owner and disassembled it to fit it in the car. 1 month later, it was all mine :) Thanks mom & dad, we LOVE it!!

This auction is to help raise money for a little girl named Zoe and her family. Zoe is 7 months old and fighting for her life. She has Trisomy18 and needs heart surgery. I am a proud supporter and participating photographer of the Littlest Heroes Project. The Littlest Heroes Project is a non-profit organization of professional photographers nationwide that provide free photo sessions to our nations Littlest Heroes. The Littlest Heroes Project is an effort to open the eyes of the world to a part of it that so many ignore or pretend (or don't even realize) exists. As a participating photographer, I will be recording precious moments for families who, in many cases, have few moments left to spare. These precious photographs will forever immortalize a child's battle with disease and sickness.

So, are you ready for the goods? I am very excited to be offering these beautiful holiday cards to spread some holiday cheer! This year I will not be offering custom designed holiday cards because as some of you may already know, it's going to be a busy end of the year for me, as I am moving to San Diego on the 1st of the year. Check back often because I am adding new cards almost weekly :)

These cards are 5x7 and are double-sided! How great is that? There is a ton of room on the back for more photos so I would be happy to add some for you :)

So I dressed Karaleigh & Nina up and we were all ready for a photo session... when the sky turned cloudy. But we hoped for the best and jumped in the car heading for the hay field. I was only able to get a few shots of Nina in the 10 minutes we had before it downpoured! This fun & funky halter dress is from Chic'le Bebe.

...I can't! I could never get tired of taking photos of this lil' peanut. You'd think she was my child judging by all the photos I take of her :) This little munchkin belongs to my lovely sister! Don't you just want to gobble her up!? I decided some of Parker's photos deserved a little photoshop love, so I had fun tonight : )

Nina was such a treat to photograph. We just had a blast giggling and laughing as she would make the funniest faces at me. Her personality and spunkiness made my job a piece of cake! Not to mention she doesn't mind being photographed AT ALL! Oh, and those golden curls are just fantastic!

I found these parasol's at the flea market in town for $4!! Can't beat that... So naturally, I bought a few : ) This session was a lot of fun. My good friend Leslie took us to a new location while we were in San Diego. The location turned out to be great for future photo sessions once I move down in January! Here is Leyla... She is just full of personality and spunkiness. She sure made my job easy!

So my best friend is getting married next year and I am proud to be her maid of honor! I have known these two for at least 10 years now and they are just the perfect match. They were dying for their photos to be done on the beach so when I was back in NY visiting, we took the opportunity to have an engagement session. the {baby buggy} series

This will be the start of my {baby buggy} series. This vintage baby buggy has started it's journey with Karaleigh in Chico. I spotted this treasure at the antique mall, and knew right then that I couldn't live without it. So after negotiating the price, and then squishing it into my trunk, it came home with me to Williams. Karaleigh fell in love with it as soon as she laid eyes on it! The buggy will keep on traveling along on Karaleigh's ventures through childhood. (As long as it fits in the car!) Gotta love antique stores! Now the search is on for a vintage baby doll to go along with it : )

And of course we had to take the baby out for a night time walk...
